Over the past 30 years, Martha has held leadership positions in both public- and private-sector organizations. She spent 12 years with the City of Hartford working in a number of capacities, among them director of operations improvement and assistant city manager for administrative services. Her 14 years in financial services included time as head of leadership and organization effectiveness for Aetna Financial Services and 4 years living and working in the Netherlands, where she was global head of leadership and change for ING.
Today, as president of Aduro Consulting, Martha works with purpose-driven companies, organizations that want to have an impact beyond the bottom line. In particular, she focuses on disrupting organizations, so that people think differently about themselves and their relationships, leading to client organizations that are more awake, more passionate, more human and more focused – all of which adds up to better business results.
Aduro, named for the Latin word meaning to “light” or “kindle,” has worked with a broad range of domestic and multinational companies. Among her clients are a venture-funded medical services startup, US and European pharmaceutical companies, financial services corporations, and large and small nonprofits. Aduro Consulting’s services — which include leadership development, team development, and organization development — are customized by client and situation.
Martha holds a bachelor’s degree in American studies from Hamilton/Kirkland College, a master’s in public administration from Syracuse University, and a doctorate in leadership and change from Antioch University. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for Antioch University New England. She lives in Boston with Andy, her husband of 42 years. She’s the mom of three and the (very young) grandmother of Brody, Caiden, and Ryland.
